NEWS: Head of AUSTRAC financial watchdog – ‘Australia had a hole in its AML standards for a long time’

BRENDAN Thomas, the CEO of financial crime watchdog AUSTRAC, has said Australia is lagging behind international AML standards.

He warned that the issue has been allowed to fester for years, and could be damaging the country’s image on the international stage.
