Rugby Australia has partnered with UK-based media company Sportable to bring innovative ball-tracking technology to the sport. The Smart Rugby Ball will be feature in all Australian derbies on the east coast across the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season.
Rugby Australia CEO, Andy Marinos, said, “Whilst the primary driver has been the high-performance data and information this produces, combining technology with live sport opens up many more opportunities down the line for a fully aligned and integrated data and analysis play that we are excited to explore.”
Sports data and technology company Genius Sports has announced it’s 2021 fourth-quarter revenue reached $84m (£64m), signalling a 78% increase from the previous year.
2021 was a strong year for Genius Sports. Highlights included being named the official partner of the NFL, and becoming the Basketball Africa League’s official provider of real-time statistics. The company also acquired fan engagement solutions provider FanHub, data tracking and visualisation specialist Second Spectrum, and creative performance platform Spirable.
Women in Sport, the charity responsible for driving change to gender equality for women and girls in sport, has partnered with creative studio Triple Double to continue its delivery of the ‘Daughters & Dads’ campaign.
Daughters & Dads Active and Empowered is a free physical activity and education programme for young girls and their fathers/father-figures who want to be more active together. Women in Sport enlisted support from Triple Double to deliver 35 digital activity films, designed to make activities feel more engaging.
Entourage Sport & Entertainment has announced the launch of a partnership management division, headed up by Katie Shaw. The company aims to activate highly effective partnerships, leveraging available assets across a range of channels to build a deeper connection with brands and their consumers.
Shaw brings over 12 years’ experience in partnership marketing and sponsorship management and will focus on creating and implementing a strategic partnership management approach, realising efficiencies through internal collaboration as well as expanding existing Entourage S&E projects to deliver on wider business goals.
